About Us
What Ibom Heritage Is All About
Akwa Ibom is home to the Ibibios, Annangs, Oro, Ekids, Obolos, Mb’Uzo, Efiks with even smaller ethnic sub-units all marked by unique traditional identities. But we are one people, especially when viewed from a global perspective.
Driven by the need to aggregate the story of the Ibom people into accessible, portable, trustworthy information, we have come together to form Ibom Heritage.
An initiative of Oto-Obong Uwah, author of Ibibio Nation: History and Culture, Ibom Heritage was created to ensure that our culture and all its offerings are preserved from generation to generation.
The Ibom Heritage Centre, which was unveiled by Oto-Obong Uwah in Ibom Hall during the launch of his book, will harbour a hub where critical history, literature, undiscovered art, artifacts, ancient architecture, cuisine, fashion will be curated and made available for the public.
At the present moment, Ibom Heritage has an office within the prestigious Ibom e-Library complex in Uyo.
